you've got questions, we've got answers

Shopper Questions

Q. Are children allowed on opening day?
A. Yes, although it is very crowded, and the lines to checkout can be very long.

Q.  How often do you have these sales?
A.  Our Spring/Summer sales are typically in March/April and our Fall/Winter sales are in August/September of each year.

Q. Are the sales located indoors?

A. Yes. Sales are located in air-conditioned/heated buildings.

Q. Are there any parking fees or entrance fees?

A. No parking fees. We charge an admission of $2 for the first day we are open to the public only.  Children 18 and under are always free.

Q.  What kinds of payment do you accept?
A.  We accept Cash, Debit, Mastercard, Visa and Discover with proper ID.  I'm sorry, but we can no longer accept checks.  However, there are ATMs on site and we will have cash only lanes that will move much faster.

Consignor Questions

Q. Who can consign their items and become a seller?
A. Anyone can consign their children's and maternity items with Just Between Friends. We request that you have a minimum of 20 items or $100 worth of items.

Q. Do consignors get to shop before the public? What about Guests?
A. Yes, consignors and one guest will shop on Thursday, August 20th at 4:30 pm.  You must have presale passes that you will pick up when you drop off your items. We are open until 8:30 Thursday evening.

Q. Are children allowed at the presale?
A. We strongly discourage bringing children under the age of 12 to the presales.  However, if you must bring your children, you may shop at 5:45.  It will be very crowded, therefore children must stay with the parent at all times. Nursing infants are allowed any time.

Q. Are nursing infants excluded from the "No Children at Presales" rule?
A. Nursing infants (non-walking) are allowed at presales. We still strongly urge you to find someone to watch your precious child as your shopping experience will greatly improve without the added responsibility.

Q. What percentage of the sales do I receive?
A. Consignors receive 65% of their sales less a $11 consignor fee (deducted from your check).  Consignors have the opportunity to raise their percentage to 70% by volunteering and can earn another 5% through our consignor referral program.

Q. Who does the pricing?
A. You set your own price and you get to decide if it is discounted on our half-price day. Check out our "Merchandise Prep" page for pricing guidelines.

Q. What percentage of my items can I expect to sell?
A. Most sellers sell approximately 80% of their items in sizes 2-10. For sizes under 24 months the percentage of sales drops due to the sheer volume of merchandise brought in by consignors to sell, and the fact that, people tend to receive infant clothing as gifts, hand me downs etc , therefore they do not have a need to buy these items. The older sizes (12-16 and up) also will sell a lower percentage as children become pickier as they near the teen and pre-teen years.

Q. How do I sign up to consign?
A. Just click on our "Online Signup" button and fill out the form. You will receive an email confirmation within moments.

Q. How long should I give myself to drop off my items?
A. We have self check-in and it typically takes at least half an hour to one hour to drop off your items. Your items will be inspected and then you place them in the designated areas around the sales floor. It is helpful to bring a wagon to drop off your items.

Q. When and where do I drop off my items?
A. Drop off is on Wednesday, August 19th from 2:00-7:00 pm and Thursday, August 20th from 8:00 am-1:00 pm. Please drive around to the back of the Phil Long Expo Center and enter through the open roll-up door.  No drop offs will take place after 1:00 pm on Thursday.  We will not offer appointments for this event since we have extended the drop off times.

Q. When do I pick up my unsold items?
A. Unsold items are to be picked up on Saturday, August 22nd from 6:00-7:00pm. Please enter through the open roll-up door around the back just as you do at drop-off and make sure to check-in.  All items not picked up at that time will automatically be donated to our charity partner.

Q. What if I work and can't make the pick up time work for my schedule?
A. You are welcome to have a friend pick up your items for you. You will need to let us know that someone else will be picking up your items. Be sure to write it on your waiver.

Q. Do I have to sort through the racks to find my unsold items? A. No, when you pick up your unsold items, your hanging garments will already be sorted by Consignor# for easy pickup. As time and volunteer sign-ups allow, we hope to have all of the other items sorted, too, otherwise, it will be up to you to visit our posted areas to find items other than clothing.

Q. How long does it take to receive my check?
A. Your check will be mailed to you within fourteen days of the end of the sale.

Q. Will I know what items have sold?
A. Because of our new data entry system, we cannot give the tags back. Some consignors like to keep an inventory of their items and cross check it against what is left at the end of the sale.  Barcoded tags can be checked at myjbftags.com.  We have moved to a point of sale system, so the majority of the tags will show up on myjbftags. com at the close of each sale night.  However, some tags may still need to be entered after the close of the sale.  PLEASE ALLOW 3 DAYS FOR US TO UPLOAD ALL OF THE TAGS ONTO THE WEBSITE.

Q. If I consign my items, do I have to stay during the sale?
A. No. Consignors drop off their items and put them out on the selling floor during the designated drop-off times and come back during the designated times to pick up their unsold items.

Q. What items are you taking?
A. We accept anything related to babies, children or maternity. The clothing must be current season. For our Fall sale, we will be accepting only Fall/Winter clothing. Save your Spring/Summer items for our Spring 2010 sale. Other great items are toys, books, videos, strollers, baby equipment, nursery items, large play equipment, bedding, cribs, changing tables, etc. For the Fall Sale, don't forget about halloween costumes and christmas attire.  WE ARE NOW ALSO ACCEPTING SCHOOL UNIFORMS!!  Go to http://www.cpsc.gov/cpscpub/prerel/prerel.html to see if any of the items that you are bringing to sell have been recalled. Be a responsible seller!  You will be shocked to see the large list of recalled children's items.

Q. What about shoes?
A. Yes, BRAND NEW or very gently used please. Please bring only your best shoes. These items are easily worn out and will not sell if they are worn.

Q. What about stuffed animals?
A. We only accept name brand or battery operated stuffed animals (lights, sound, movement), or Disney or Beanie Babies in new or like new condition. We have seen a decrease in the sale of stuffed animals, and so we must limit them.

Worker Questions

Q. Can anyone sign up as a volunteer and attend the volunteer presales?
A. Yes, anyone may sign up to volunteer on a first come/first serve basis. You do not have to be a consignor to volunteer. Go into your profile on our "Online Signup" and choose the volunteer scheduler button.  This will allow you to choose your shifts and have your schedule emailed to you.

Q. Can I bring a guest to the volunteer presale?
A. Volunteers may not bring guests unless the guest completes their applicable work times. Each pre-sale pass is good for one person to enter the presale. Please no children at our presales. A special time slot on August 20th at 5:45 pm, has been set aside for volunteers/consignors who must bring their children.  VOLUNTEERS ARE ONLY ALLOWED TO SHOP DURING THEIR DESIGNATED PRESALE TIME BASED ON THE AMOUNT OF HOURS WORKING.  WE CANNOT MAKE EXCEPTIONS.

Q. How long are the shifts?

A. Shifts are 4 hours each. You may choose to work up to 3 shifts.  The more shifts you work, the earlier you shop!

Q. Do you provide childcare for volunteers?
A. We apologize, but we do not offer childcare due to liability.

Q. I'm pregnant or have a medical condition. Is it OK for me to be a volunteer?
A. If you are pregnant or have a medical condition, you will want to volunteer when the workload is less. We have several shifts available with jobs that can be done sitting down. If you need these positions, please email us with your request after registering and we will try to accommodate your request.

Q. What if I am a consignor/volunteer and cannot work the shift(s) that I have signed up for?
If you have signed up to work a shift at the sale and do not show up or notify us after the sale has begun, we will deduct your consignor percentage to 50% or you can find someone to work your shift in your place to maintain your 70%.

Volunteer/Consignor/First Time Mom Presale Questions

Q. Who is allowed to shop at the presale?
A. Volunteers shop first on Thursday, August 20th at 2:00, 2:30, 3:00 and 3:30pm. Consignors shop at 4:30pm with one guest.  First time parents, grandparents, military moms and teachers will be able to bring one guest with them to their presale at on Thursday.  Military moms and teachers will shop at 5:45 and first time parents and grandparents will shop at 7:00pm.

Q. Can I bring my child/children to the presale?
A. No, it is very crowded, and the lines to checkout can be very long. We also want this time to be as stress free to our volunteers, consignors and first time moms as possible. Nursing infants (non-walking) or under 12 months are allowed.  If you must bring your child, they are permitted after 5:45 pm.

Q. I am a First Time Parent, First Time Grandparent, Military Mom or Teacher, do I need to bring anything to gain entrance into the sale?
A. You just need to bring your picture ID and a friend/relative if you prefer. The above group members, who pre-registered, will be allowed to shop at 5:45 and 7:00 pm on Thursday, August 20th. Sorry, only nursing infants at this presale. We will have your name at the door for your entrance to the sale. Happy shopping!

Q. Can I bring a stroller to the presale?

A. Yes, you will need to keep it from blocking the aisles. We do strongly discourage it because of the crowds during presale.  However, due to the number of people shopping at our sale, it may be easier to bring a laundry basket with a rope or belt attached to pull your "bargains" behind you.
